05) and decreases fentanyl consumption significantly in the study group (620164 g vs. 989238 g) (P < 0.05) without any effects on the incidence and severity of fasciculations. Conclusions: Prophylactic use of gabapentin 600 mg in

laparoscopic cholecystectomy decreases the incidence and severity of myalgia and fentanyl consumption.”
“This paper deals with the problem of estimating the parameters for fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes from discrete observations when the Hurst parameter H is known. Both the drift and the diffusion coefficient estimators of discrete form are obtained based on approximating integrals via Riemann sums with check details Hurst parameter H is an element of (1/2,3/4). By adapting the stochastic integral representation to the fractional Brownian motion, these two estimators can be efficiently computed by the use of computer software. Numerical examples are presented to examine the performance of our method. An application to real data is also presented to show how to apply this method in practice. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc. “We present a generalized solution to Grossman’s model of health capital (1972). relaxing the widely used assumption that individuals can adjust their health stock instantaneously to an “optimal” level without adjustment costs. The Grossman model

then predicts the existence of a health threshold above which individuals do not demand medical 4EGI-1 mw care. Our generalized solution addresses a significant criticism: the model’s prediction that health and medical care are positively related is consistently rejected by the data. We suggest structural- and reduced-form equations to

test our generalized solution and contrast the predictions of the model with the empirical literature. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.”
“In this paper, we study the global asymptotic behavior for Torin 2 an impulsive bidirectional associative memory neural network with time-varying delays. The impulses are realized at fixed moments of time. The main stability criteria are proved by employing Lyapunov functions and the Razumikhin technique. An illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.”
“Andropause or late-onset hypogondism (LOH) is a situation where a middle-aged or older man has low serum testosterone (T) in conjunction with diffuse symptoms reminiscent of those of genuine male hypogonadism (e.g. reduced sexual function, loss of vigor, muscle weakness, depression). Opinions about the diagnostic criteria, prevalence and treatment options of andropause vary considerably amongst experts. We review here some salient findings on the prevalence, diagnostic criteria and impact on health of andropause, obtained from the European Male Ageing Study (EMAS), a multicenter study of ageing among community-dwelling middle-aged and older men.
