Following screening of 23 PCT+CHC patients between September 2017 and May 2020, 15 met the inclusion criteria and were enrolled. The standard therapy for all patients was ledipasvir/sofosbuvir, administered at the dosage and duration appropriate for the stage of their liver disease. Plasma and urinary porphyrins were assessed at the beginning of the study, then monthly up to the twelfth month and also at months 16, 20, and 24. Serum HCV RNA was quantified at baseline, 8-12 months, and 20-24 months. Serum HCV RNA's absence 12 weeks after treatment concluded indicated a successful cure for HCV. Clinically, PCT remission was established by the absence of newly formed blisters or bullae, and biochemically by the urinary levels of uro- and hepta-carboxyl porphyrins at a concentration of 100 micrograms per gram of creatinine.
HCV genotype 1 infected all 15 patients, 13 of whom were male. Two of the 15 patients either withdrew or were lost to follow-up in the study. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the utility of the Testicular Work-up for Ischemia and Suspected Torsion (TWIST) score in diagnosing or excluding testicular torsion (TT) through an analysis of relevant studies, with the goal of quantifying the available evidence.
