An alternative method involves assessing tumor cell RAD51 focus formation in response to DNA damage, employing an immunofluorescence assay (IFA). In this initial exploration of this assay in ovarian cancer (OC), we aimed to delineate its features and assess its correlation with platinum sensitivity and the presence of BRCA mutations.
The prospective collection of tumor samples from the randomized CHIVA trial involved neoadjuvant platinum treatment, possibly in conjunction with nintedanib. Immunostaining was carried out to quantify the presence of RAD51, GMN, and gH2AX proteins within formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks.
